The headline match of round two is David Chen against Hawk, two of the club’s strongest players meeting head to head.
Both play off a seven handicap; under the group’s calculation David Chen concedes two strokes to Hawk. Chen brings deep tournament experience, a steady game, and composure under pressure — now past sixty, he has pushed his handicap to scratch and below in recent years, and this round is played on his home course. Hawk is younger and more aggressive, regularly driving past 280 yards with a particularly strong short game, and is a fixture at larger tournaments.
In the previous two editions Hawk was drawn against high-handicap players in excellent form and lost narrowly each time. This is a genuinely even match-up, and both players say they expect to win.
The match is supervised throughout by Michael, a well-known Southern California golfer, to keep play fair.
